هل من الممكن إبطاء الوقت؟
Today Finn and Liliane are talking about time.
They ask the question: Is it possible to extend our lives by slowing down time itself?
The answer is no, of course. But a new book by Steve Taylor says that if you do something new, your perception of time changes. Having a new experience can make it seem as if time is going slower.
For example, when you are a child the summer seems to last forever. This is because children are experiencing something new. Everything is fresh for them.
So time seems to go faster as you get older because we have fewer new experiences. Another reason is the proportional theory; the older we get, the smaller one year is, as a proportion of our lives.
We hear some Londoners talking about their perception of time; when time passes quickly for them and when it goes slowly.
Time goes quickly when people are partying, sleeping and playing sports.
Time goes slowly when people are working, bored or watching the clock.
When does time pass quickly for you, and when does it pass slowly?
